I am writing this review to alert to how Fantastic and supportive Holland America Zuiderdam Customer Service Manager and Corfu Port cruise Agency Team dealt with my unfortunate experience of missing the ship! It is possibly everybody's worst nightmare & curiosity of what would happen. Trust me, I too have commented on crazy " people leaving it so late" rushing back onto cruise ships but as I now know there are some circumstances when it can and does apparently happen quite a lot.

I cannot explain the sheer panic, stress and anxiety it feels like to have been assuming you were on time and when you arrive back at the Port your ship has in fact left with all your family group of husband and other 6 family passengers! and you are stood in what you have on and a beach bag, no passport or money!! But I was unaware that every cruise ship has a Team of Agents at every Port who will provide support should this happen! Apparently my husband was alerted that I had not returned as the ship was leaving the dock and the cruise staff managed to throw my passport onto the port and the agent caught it just as it avoided falling into the sea! Imagine his distress, waiting for 3 hours to hear from the Port agent that I had been found and was safe and alive!

The cruise staff were supporting my husband re best option for me to catch up with ship, so I had a day and a half stressful wait to find out what if any option was available. Eventually the Agent came to the hotel and informed me things were booked and my husband had paid for costs and I could catch up with the ship ,which was to be 3 days later in Dubrovnik. So additional costs were to be 700 euros for 2 flights and 400 euros for hotel in Cofu!! it was the longest 4 days evverr!! Read more
