This is our second Viking cruise, this time on the new Viking Star. We didn't think it could top our river cruise of 3 years ago but it did. One thing that was so noticeable was the constant attention to customers by all of the service staff - restaurants waiters, cabin cleaners, etc. It really felt like they cared about us and that it wasn't just a job.

The activities were varied and the shore excursions we chose were excellent. My husband was thrilled that there was a good gym.

The dining was fantastic. I mean, who starts a cruise with fresh oysters 'all you can eat'?? We are 'foodies' so it was like dying and going to Food Heaven. Our personal preference was the World Cafe - superb food and the variety was over the top. Loved it. We also adored being able to dine al fresco on the decks off the World Cafe. Manfredi's was also excellent but no deck dining.

Cabin Review

Cabin Deluxe Veranda

Nice cabin overall but the bathroom must have been designed by a man. I would have liked a swivel wall mirror with magnifier so that I could apply makeup more easily and also to see the back of my hair. The ceiling potlights were positioned in such a way as to cause glare when looking into it. I didn't quite know where to stand. It would also have made sense to put in a 110 V electrical outlet in the bathroom, as that is where most women use curling irons and straighteners. See. Must have been designed by a man :-)
