Just returned from the Magic. We had cloud 9 spa cabin #12001. Overall it was a good cruise and only have a few comments. We never ate in the main dining rooms because they always tend to take to long, we would rather just grab a quick bite elsewhere and get on with enjoying our cruise. Plus frankly we get tired of the same question and answer period every time you get to a table. They have very few two person tables and we didn't want to wait. The buffet food was tasty but nothing to get excited about. It filled you up and that's all that counts. One complaint is they need more staff at the deli and pizza areas to handle the crowd. Waiting 20-30 for a sandwich only to have the person in front of you order a dozen at a time can be a pain in the butt. Maybe limit it to 1-2 at a time.

The entertainment was above average and the bands that played in the oasis lounge where very good. Our other complaint was that we enjoy the thermal spa area on this class of ship and have done the Dream and Breeze several times. We noticed that as the week went on they kept pushing the day pass even though they say there is a limit on them. Our last two days at sea you could not even get a seat anywhere as the day went on. Much to crowded, never had this problem before.

Our last comment is that the port of Galveston needs to get there act together. We arrived pier side at 2:30pm and made it aboard just in time to attend the life boat drill. This is our first time out of this port and others told us that this is normal every time? We noticed a huge amount, at least over half of the people where blue card holders and this may contribute to the slow process.

Cabin Review

Spa Balcony

Cabin 8S

Average Carnival cabin, perfect for 2-3 but would be very hard to handle if there was a forth.

Room steward was fantastic as usual, never had a problem. Never saw or heard our neighbor and don't think the cabin was even occupied. Was directly accross from side entrance to the gym so in 20 feet one could go from your bed to the treadmill.

Port Reviews

Galveston

Long slow lines even with us being platinum

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

It's nothing like it used to be. Typical tourest trap like all of the other ports. Most of the smaller bars have been bought out and replaced.

Montego Bay

Montego Bay has never been one of favorites. Took a taxi to Sunset Beach Resort and spent the day on the adults only nude beach area.
