We had a fabulous time - nothing but good to say about the cruise. The pre-extension in Lisbon and post-extension in Santiago de Compostela were both wonderful also.
The ship was lovely - immaculately clean, nice decor with a Scandanavian feel - nothing frou-frou-ey. Our cabin was on the lowest deck and was perfect for what we wanted. It had enough room (well, they are snug on river cruises but we knew that as we've been on 2 previously) and was well laid-out so that everything could be put in drawers and closets so there was not a feeling of clutter or clautstrophobia. It was not a situation where one had to stand in the hall while the other got dressed! The decor again was appreciated - a very simple and clean and modern design. We don't mind being in "aquarium class" as any time we have on the ship we're out in public spaces, using the cabin only to sleep. We wouldn't use a balcony if we had one; we prefer to relax on the sundeck and enjoy the view from there. And the amount of time spent during sailing was not huge on this cruise. There was some but most days we were busy on shore.
The ship's public spaces were adequate for all passengers without feeling crowded. I know on a past Viking cruise during the evening talk about what would take place the next day there were not enough seats for all in the lounge but that wasn't the case on the Torgil.
