Here are the hits of the Norwegian version of the Alaska cruise.

The boarding process is smooth and organized. This particular trip there was a long wait at customs to enter ship, however this was due to US Custom computer problems. Norwegian has an excellent reputation with respect to crew. They are polite, friendly, helpful and pleasant. We saved up for the cabin with a balcony and it was worth it! Spacious and provided for excellent vantage point for the glacier views towards the end of the cruise.

The entertainment was good but sparse. Most shows lasted under an hour and there were not as many as on other NCL cruises. A plus was the guest appearance of a Frankie Valli/Four Seasons tribute band that performed on last two days of cruise. This cruise offered many activites like other NCL cruises so you have something to do on sea days or if you elect to skip the off shore activities.

Cabin Review

Balcony

King bed, sofa, desk. Much bigger room than standard size NCL rooms. Balcony allowed a lot of private and convenient picture taking.

Ventilation: Fair, didn't notice heating or cooling working well.

TV: Adequate channels and nice continuous showings of recently released prime movies or tv shows.

Electricity: Only one US socket for room as well as EU socket. Plan your charging of devices accordingly. You cannot bring on an extension cord to solve issue. They will be seized and given back to you at end of trip. I did not bring such device but security did not understand my multi port USB charger, they tried to seize it, which led to an apology and explanation.

Port Reviews

Ketchikan

Tourist trap. Best place, however, for souvenirs. Try Alaska Seafood House for excellent seafood. We walked the totem pole path and Ketchikan provides free shuttle service to areas well

Skagway

We chose to hike for free to a lake. There are other trails in area. All moderate hikes and labeled well.

Glacier Bay

NCL brings in two park rangers to provide audio tour of Glacier Bay. Plenty of opportunities to take pictures of the glaciers. Wildlife shots are possible as found one humpback whale. At final glacier the ship did two 360s.
