We were very disappointed that NCL has cut back so much. We appreciated the free offers at booking and picked the ultimate drink package. Once on board, good luck finding a bar server and then getting them to take your order. Many were experts at walking right past you without making eye contact. My husband would order a certain type of rum which was not in all bars. If they did not have it, they just used whatever they had without asking him what he'd prefer - even right in front of him when he had to go to the bar to get a drink because cocktail servers were rare. Previous to this trip, you couldn't turn around without someone offering to sell you a drink!
All stage shows we saw lacked background sets and the only props during one show looked like walkers set up to look like the front of a motorcycle - weird! The food was less elegant - no lobster night, no escargot, no frogs legs, tough rib eye steak, apple pie that was more like a firm apple jelly with a few pieces of apple in it. Only one restaurant was open at breakfast and it closed at 9:30 AM so we had to eat in the buffet which was way too busy - long lines and no tables on days when the weather was poor. One day we went to the dining room before 9 AM and they had shut it because according to the person at the door they "were too full and the cooks couldn't keep up"!
The room steward was a wonderful fellow and the wait staff in the restaurants, while there were less of them, they were very nice and most could describe a dish on the menu. We did find two great bartenders and a few cocktail servers who could be depended upon to provide service. Only one 110v plug in cabin which makes it hard to keep your electronic devices charged.
Need more than one 110V plug in cabin to keep electronic devices charged,
Took extended glacier walk tour which included climbing a wall of ice. Great experience!
Glacier Bay is beautiful. It was raining like crazy the day we visited and still magnificent!
Busy city with lots of construction and traffic, even when it's raining.
