We were pleased with the embarkation for Princess. That went very smoothly, and we were very pleased with our itinerary and excursions. We also felt that there was adequate storage in the cabin to put all of our belongings away. We also enjoyed our anytime dining and liked our server so much that we requested his table every evening. The food was delicious. The entertainment was good, and our favorite was an impressionist. He even got a standing ovation at the end of his performance. Our main problem is that I booked this cruise nearly one year in advance and specifically asked the Princess cruise specialist to help us select a quiet inside cabin. The room was anything except quiet! The galley was above us, and at various hours throughtout the night we could hear large heavy carts being rolled across the floor. However, there was a rattling metal noise that made good sleep impossible. It would rattle periodically throught the day and during the middle of the night. We brought this to the attention of the staff, but they couldn't explain what the noise was or where it was coming from. They experessed concern by calling us daily to ask us if it had improved, but they didn't have any available cabins to move us to. I even used a sound machine that I turned up fairly loudly trying to drown out these annoying noises, but it was to no avail. The staff did a very good job with other matters, but we would never book this cabin again and are unsure we would ever consider booking Princess again due to this problem with our cabin.

Cabin Review

Cabin B632
We had great storage for putting everything away, and though it looked a bit worn, it was clean. Our room steward was very kind and conscientious.
Our main issue was not being able to sleep well. The galley was above us, and at various hours throughout the night we could hear very heavy carts being rolled across the floor above us. However, there was a very annoying noise that made good sleep nearly impossible. It was a loose rattling metal noise that came periodically throughout the day and the nigiht. The staff said that they did not know where it was coming from.

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Mendenhall Glacier
We took a bus trip to a rainforest with a short hike, and then he took us to Mendenhall Glacier where we did some more hiking to see the waterfall as well as the snow covered mountain and beautiful glacier. This was a favorite excursion!

This is well worth it to get a beautiful view of Juneau (expecially on a nice day). We really enjoyed our hike to see Father Brown's Cross at the top and the nature center has a very nice gift shop.

  • Ketchikan
This is one of our favorite cities that we stopped in. It is the most scenic of the three that we went to. My husband and I walked up a very steep road and took a hike at Rainbird Trail by ourselves. There was no cost involved, and we enjoyed getting away from the crowds in a peaceful and beautiful setting! It is a moderate hike and in some places it was slippery and a bit difficult.

  • White Pass Scenic Railway
We thoroughly enjoyed the narrated bus tour into the Yukon as well as the train ride back to Skagway. The scerery was beautiful, and it was very enjoyable! It was quite cold in the Yukon, and it was even snowing in early Sept.

  • Whittier
We really enjoyed the narrated bus trip from Anchroage to Whittier. The bus stopped for picture taking as well as at a wildlife refuge.
