BACKGROUND: I am 60 years old, and have cruised on dozens of ships. I was solo for this trip. It was my sixth cruise to Alaska and I was looking forward to a relaxing cruise. I was not disappointed!

EMBARKATION/DISEMBARKATION: Both went smoothly. The disembarkation might have been the quickest ever. I had a delicious breakfast, disembarked, found my suitcase and was out the door in a matter of minutes. I Ubered to and from Pier 91, and that worked well.

PUBLIC AREAS: HAL maintains their ships very well. The areas are attractive and very clean. The ship doesn't have a stunning atrium, but rather a number of understated areas with attractive artwork. The elevators are well-placed and it is easy to maneuver around the ship.
