My husband and I just returned from a 4 night cruise on board Enchantment of the Seas which sailed from Port Canaveral on Labor Day. Embarkation was extremely simple. Upon entering the terminal area, my husband and I were asked what our member status and were sent to the "gold" level check in line which was much shorter than the regular line. Within 20 minutes of entering the terminal, we were on the ship. Of course, I had completed the online check in and had my SeaPass paperwork signed and credit card and passports ready to go. This was my 14th cruise and I have figured out that having paperwork and documents in order saves a lot of time at the port.
Once on the ship, my husband and I went to the Windjammer for lunch. The Windjammer was a complete cluster of people. The main entree area is in a small circle in the center of the room which had folks bumping into each other frequently. Seating is somewhat limited and frequent announcements were made requesting that folks who had finished their meals leave the dining area so others could have a table. It has been 3 years since my last cruise with Royal Caribbean and this is the first time I have encountered the free-standing Coke machines which will only work with the tumbler provided with your drink package. I think this is a nice addition if you want to carry the tumbler around all the time.
We were allowed to enter our cabins at 1:30 pm. Our cabin was #3118 which had a nice large window. This ship is somewhat dated, but I expected that. I have to say at this point in my review that I have never had a more uncomfortable mattress on any cruise ship before. The mattresses sagged in the middle and I felt like I was sleeping on the bed frame. I like a firm mattress, but these were pathetic. Royal Caribbean definitely needs to invest in some new mattresses for this ship. Our room was quiet even for though it was located just around the corner from the elevator and I would definitely pick this room again. There was plenty of closet and drawer room for the clothing that my husband and I took for a 4 night cruise. Our cabin steward was J.J. and he was great...wonderful personality and on top of things.
Didn't do anything at this port except for get on and off the ship.
Usual, pushy folks trying to sell anything.
