We really enjoyed our recent cruise on the Independence of the Seas. It was touch and go if we would be cruising at all due to the threat of Hurricane Erika, but fortunately, she was just remnants by the day we sailed.
Our cabin, 6700, was one of the largest we have ever had. It was far aft and portside, and although it was an OV with a very large round window, it had a balcony outside, but we could not get to it because there was no door. Our view was through the window and we could see the railing and the glass partition underneath. I guess it was to make the ship look more uniform from the outside. Anyway, the cabin was very long and wide. Instead of two small bedside tables, we had four, and the sofa seemed to be more than six feet long. Size wise, it almost felt like a suite! Also, high praise for Wendy, our excellent cabin attendant!
We had a beautiful table for two on Deck 4 next to a window. The food was very good in the MDR and in the Windjammer.
Cabin 6700 is very long and wide with a huge round window overlooking a balcony. We could not access the balcony because there is no door! We think it must be cosmetic to keep the line of the ship consistent from the outside. Instead of two small bedside tables, we had four, and our sofa seemed to be over six feet long. It is located far aft, portside, and was very quiet. We did smell cigarette smoke coming through the vent on quite a few occasions. We reported it, and maintenance came, but we still smelled it from time to time. Other than the smoke smell, I would highly recommend this very large and quiet cabin.
