This was a special vacation as this was our first family reunion cruise and we were excited because we heard so many great things about Norwegian cruise line. Our first encounter with was with guest services and on board credit personnel. The staff was agitated and impatient with the guests, including members of our party. It seemed like they were not interested in accommodating or satisfying us with a smile.
Our next encounter was with our cabin steward who provided below standard service. On day one, he didn't greet us, and when we went to find him because our refrigerator was locked he didn't know our names. We had to ask for the price list for the refrigerator twice before getting it. On day two, we returned to our cabin and found it UNLOCKED!!!! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! Another guest told us where the cabin steward was, and he profusely apologized, stating that he was only gone for a short time. After that he always spoke and called us by our name. He never provided us with our pool towels nor clean drinking glasses after we used them. Now to be fair, the cabin steward for my mother and nephews rooms was superb!!!
Our experience with the dining staff was about the same. The hostess at the Tropicana Room was not friendly at all...ever. It seemed to stem from having to accommodate a party of 9. The wait staff there, O’Sheehan’s, and Illusionarium was just there to do a job, not make a pleasant experience for us. The exception was Geraldine in the Tropicana Room who was EXCELLENT. The problem, we only got her once. The waiter at La Cucina was great. I wish I remembered his name.
Cabin as clean. We had a cabin in the front of the boat and the view from the window was fantastic. The decor and furnishings were very nice. The room was comfortable.
Tour guide was fantastic! We learned a great deal.
