We have cruised a dozen times but this was our first Alaskan cruise. Have also cruised on RC, Princess, Celebrity and Norwegian. Really love Carnival for value and comfort. Embarkation in Seattle was smooth quick. We had an extended balcony suite on Deck 8. Great room, plenty of storage and proximity to Lido and main dining room was excellent. Smaller ship than others we have sailed on but really liked the size and convenience of being able to get from one end to the other without obstacles or confusing routes. Room steward Eka was excellent. Bedding and mattress are great. Big upgrade from RCL surprisingly.
Food was good to very good. Biggest food complaint was breakfast. No variety and pretty institutional. We started skipping breakfast and just waited for lunch instead. Lido buffet for lunch and dinner was pretty predictable....nothing remarkable but very nice salad bar. Did My Time Dining for dinner most nights. Have always done first seating before but this worked great. Dining room staff was fabulous from hostess to waiter. We requested table for two by window and always got it with no more than 10 minute wait. Didn't go to any entertainment. First time for that as well......all just seemed really predictable. Ports were great except Victoria. Total waste of time. Arrived at 7PM and left at midnight. Ship docked far from city in ugly 'rest area-ish' spot with sad little gift shop ...yuck. Shouldn't even call that a stop. Sad way to end what was otherwise a wonderful, beautiful and relaxing cruise.
Sufficient room. Storage was adequate for the two of us. Lack of outlets made charging phones difficult. Balcony was big...three chairs and table. Overhang on Deck 8 at first made me wish we had selected a different cabin but it ended up providing protection from wind and rain and we actually really liked it. Lido is right above so sometimes could hear carts rolling etc. but not often enough to have any impact. Bed was extremely comfortable as well as bedding and pillows.
Right outside of dock. Easy access. Nice views and trails.
Beautiful views and scenery. Saw a bear. Great proximity to ship dock.
Horrible stop. I love Victoria and looked forward to stopping here. This shouldn't even be considered a port stop. Arrived around 7pm and left around 11pm on the last night of the cruise. Docked in ugly industrial area, a half hour walk from anything worth seeing or pay the cost of a cab to take in what at 8pm on a Monday night? A gift shop at the end of the dock reminded me of a Chevron quick stop. Dark, dingy and very rest areaish. Very disappointing. This is NOT a viable port given these conditions.
Raining as usual but didn't stop us from walking around very quaint and charming town. Walked down Creek Street and took in its history. Good shopping. Only there from 7ish to 11ish which was not really long enough.
