I am not very "wordy" so this will be short and sweet! Having been on 7-8 cruises, we were impressed by how quick we went thru boarding. From walking thru the terminal doors to being on the ship was no more than 15 minutes. We had seen many posts indicating the Jewel of the Seas was "tired" and needed updating. However, we found the condition to be better than expected and, as always, the crew went above and beyond. We had sailed on the Serenate (sister ship) a couple of times and found them very comparable.

Food was typical both in the Windjammer and the Dining Room. We enjoyed the various salmon offerings. I notice RC is big on regional foods. When we sail from New Orleans there is always crawfish! We tried the Seaview once. It was OK but we ate outside and the wind blew our food off the plates! We didn't do any specialty dining so no input there.

Our stateroom was a deck 10 balcony (1004). No obstructions. It was 3 rooms back from the Fly Bridge so we could watch the captain and crew on the bridge from our balcony! Deck 10 is great for views but in rough seas shows a bit more movement than found in lower decks.

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E2

No obstructions. 3 rooms down from the bridge which gave us a view of activity in the extended Fly Bridge. Great room!

Port Reviews

Seattle

Great views. It is one of those "need to see it once" things but I can mark it off the list and wouldn't need to go back.
