First things first! Our last cruise was about 20 years ago - Trans-Atlantic on HAL Maasdam and we loved it. We wanted to share the cruise experience with our son (13) and booked the Rotterdam for a week into the Fjords of Norway. This review will inevitably compare those past and present experiences.

Pre-Cruise

The HAL website is a thing of horror. It is easier to search information via Google than on the website itself. Logging into my account was as tricky as entering information or checking-in online. As soon as HAL have your e-mail address you are facing a barrage of mails with tour offers and all kinds of stuff. Hard to find the few important mails there.
