We sailed from Venice thru two ports in Croatia (Hvar and Dbrovnik); Kotor, Montnegro; Butrint, Albania; Katakolon, Greece; Itea, Greece; Nafplion, Greece; then finished in Athens. As a side note, Katakolon, Greece is absolutely the worst destination I have ever experienced.
The ship was in need of many, many repairs. The toilets on the Port side of the ship were inoperative everytime the ship was in port. The head of housekeeping said it was from a guest flushing something like a t-shirt down the toilet; however, the plumbing crew said it was a vacuum leak that they couldn't find, but not to worry because they experience this every cruise. We were forced to move rooms to the starboard side towards the front of the ship (luckily we had smooth waters to sail), causing us to repack then unpack our bags in the middle of the journey.
Although the ship was a disaster maintenance-wise, the crew was outstanding. From the waiters to the porters, everbody was outstanding in the rank and file level of staff; however, there was a huge communication problem between management and the guests regarding the problems on this ship, and excuses were being made and they weren't owning up to the problem. I would not sail with Windstar again after this voyage, and especially would not sail on the Star Pride--she is long in the tooth and in need of many, many repairs.
Cabin was fine, as long as you don't require a toilet.
Water was outstanding, friendly people await to serve you.
Excellent tour, great workout in a beautiful setting.
The best surprise on our cruise, I will definitely return to Kotor
Absolutely the worst port I have ever visited. Smelly, dirty, trash everywhere. They were dredging the port while we were there, stong petroleum odor. Beach appeared to be oil-soaked, cars driving on the beach. We nicknamed the port "Cat's Colon" for a reason.
