As someone who doesn't generally write reviews (good or bad) I feel moved to say that my first cruise with CMV will be my last cruise with this line.
I am not a seasoned cruiser having done fewer than 10 cuises with the likes of P&O and Thomson and I had no expectations from CMV. I tried to be objective in my opinions.
The embarkation process at Tilbury was satisfactory compared with the other lines I have experienced. The staff in general were very good but there are major differences evident from P&O and Thomson when it comes to the likes of entertainment and food availability. One doesn't expect 5 course meals to be made available 24/7 but with the other 2 lines I mention there will be hot food available from a servery until at lease 1am. CMV cease having buffet food available after 8.20pm. Yes, they bring around a couple of trays of small eats from 11.30-12.00 in the evening but it is a far cry from that available elsewhere and you have to be quick to get to it. It's not that I am always in the restaurant but the availability is the principle here.
This cabin is very noisy and I suspect others clustered around it are. I did ask if I could pay and additional fee to choose a cabin. For those not aware this facility is available on Thomson ships. The reason I asked was that I had read from a review that cabin 4100 should be avoided, due to noise, but when I mentioned this they advised that the reviewer was probably over reacting or had brilliant hearing. Sadly the reviewer was correct. However, I don't want to be too critical of the excessive noise as I feel I paid my money and took my chance. It just didn't work out.
