I am an avid lover of the water and did work on the water professionally years ago and finally my wife and our two older boys ages 17 and 21 were finally taking a cruise. Let's just say I was looking forward to it along with my boys. We are familiar with Boston Harbor and approaches to Boston and it was great to see the pilot boat and the harbor islands on departure. Cruising was uneventful weather wise and this was welcomed by my Wife especially because of concerns of motion sickness.
I can say that the pre-cruise planning and reservation interaction with Norwegian was easy and efficient. We had the same easiness with the staff and hospitality stewards embarking and disembarking in port without any problems. Our room steward Emmanuel was excellent and greeted us with a smile every time we saw him. He especially made the cruise experience welcoming for us. Our expectations as far as the food , recreation equipment and exercise equipment was surpassed. The food was better than expected at the buffet. The emphasis on cleanliness was noticeable. If you can recommend dining at the sit down restaurants where you are waited on at no extra charge. Did not try Cagney's or any of the upper end restaurants.
The only complaint is that I never did get a reply or confirmation that my suggestion was read or reviewed by the ship's senior hospitality officer that "Sargasso Sea" is misspelled on the NAV channel as "Saragasso Sea" in one of the slides. Also they should not charge for tours of the bridge and behind the scenes. As a former officer aboard a merchant vessel it was always a pleasure to explain what happens on the bridge to guests. I provided my email and room number and still no reply.
