Our first cruise with P & O from Southampton and our last. Our holiday started with the last 10 miles taking one and a half hours, and talking to other passengers this seems to be the norm. We have always done fly cruises in the past, so three days of very indifferent weather there and back did not go down at all well, and the second night we had a bad storm going through the Bay of Biscay, with 100mph winds - not for the faint hearted. Never again. The return being just the opposite - calm - but you never know. We have travelled with numerous other lines and can honestly say there is little too choose between them, unless of course you use Silver Seas etc. Ok P&O ships are fairly modern, big with lots of passengers and of course predominantly British passengers, but going out of Southampton you are always going to have the sea days, and the same ports in Northern Spain and Portugal time after time. For their itineraries we prefer Thomson Cruises, ok the ships are much smaller, but that does mean less passengers, and their ships are much older and in places do show their age, but as I have said that is the only difference we can find between any of the Cruise Lines we have used. We did enjoy our cruise, but the journey to Southampton and two days before we saw any sun just not for us. The staff were just brilliant and the entertainment first class, as was the food and service in MDR. No problems with ordering wine each evening, they must have brought back the Wine Waiters. We could find no fault with the Azura itself, just our own preference shone through when writing this review. Excursions with P&O very good. Embarkation went very smooth along with disembarkation. We had cabin R512 Riviera Deck - great position mid-ship. This review may sound very negative, but its just a true assessment of what we thought and of course we do not object to flying, I think I have made that quite plain. Well done P&O

OK - BUT NEVER FROM SOUTHAMPTON AGAIN

Our first cruise with P & O from Southampton and our last.

Our holiday started with the last 10 miles taking one and a half hours, and talking to other passengers this seems to be the norm.

Well done P&O
