Sail Date: Jul 2015
Cabin: Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

My wife and I are in our late 20’s and early 30’s we cruised for the first time on Independence of the Seas in October 2014 for our honeymoon, we loved the experience so much and with the hype then beginning for Anthem we booked in April 2015 for our 14 night Med Beaches cruise on 4th July 2015. For the sake of the review we did not have a drinks package (drinks roughly $7 each) and we did not try any specialty dining (typically $30 each) we also did not buy a Wi-Fi package.

With only six ports of call and an over night in Mallorca on the itinerary, it would probably be fair to say that a majority of people who chose this cruise did so for the ship, the amount of activities on offer, the various dining options, the shows, the technology…

Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

Cabin K

Large, open spaces all around bed, small lounge chair and dressing table with chest of drawers and wardrobe space either side of bed and overhead compartments. Ensuite bathroom was a good size and you did not feel too enclosed. Virtual Balcony is a nice idea and gave a great representation of the view outside.

Port Reviews

Southampton

Small port, able to travel to all attractions on foot. We walked to the cable car station and beat the excursions. Loved the bustle of the main shopping street.

Gibraltar

Small port, can reach most attractions by foot. We walked to the cable car station and beat the excursions, loved the bustle of the main shopping street.

Malaga

Took the transfer from the ship to the centre (around 5 euro) we planned to take a segway tour but risked not pre booking unfortunately we missed out as it was fully booked. We managed to walk to most places found a nice cafe for some Churros and took a nice walk around Gibralfaro Castle (2.20 euro each)

Villefranche

We tendered off the ship early and took the TGV to Nice (6 minutes 3.35 euro return) on our return we decided to head to Monaco (15 minutes 7 euro return) you are well placed to visit further afield Cannes etc we found trains very prompt.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Avoid ship transfers, bus station right outside terminal 1.50 euro for single trip on bus route no. 2. Beautiful city, cathedral shuts Saturday afternoons. Sunday we took train from Palma to Soller and visited Soller bay on the tram (30 euro return each to use both) wonderful scenery on the train as you travelled into the hills. Be wary of afternoon train times as last train is 14:00.

Ibiza

Took transfer from ship to centre (10 euros each) walked through the old town and took in the views. Spent afternoon at Talamanca Beach to soak up the sun.

Seville

Beautiful city, spent hours walking around the mazed street and visiting the shops. Took a walk around the sea walls taking in the open garden spaces and the sea views.
