My husband and I just finished a 7 day cruise on the Pride of America for our honeymoon and sadly it was the worst cruise/vacation we've ever been on. We have cruised before on Celebrity, Princess and Carnival and loved it, but this cruise has zero luxury, horrible entertainment, and is VERY overpriced for what you get. Believe the reviews when they say it is more like being on a ferry boat than a cruise and do yourself a favour by booking a week at a luxury hotel on one of the islands instead of doing this cruise!

We loved the idea of this cruise because we wanted to see all the islands and had Tropical Storm Kilo not affected the weather (and in turn the original itinerary) so much perhaps we would have had a better time and not cared so much about the basic boat, but after being stuck out at sea for the first day and having all of our excursions cancelled in Kauai on the 2nd day, it really emphasized how much this shipped lacked and how little of Hawaii you really see being stuck on a boat. The weather was so hot and humid all you wanted to be was in a pool or the ocean, but we couldn't do either because the pools onboard were packed and warm and the beaches in Kauai had "brown water warnings" from so much runoff from the rain storms. The only rings we got to see in Kauai was the sail by of the Na Pali Coast and the Marriot Hotel that was near the port.

We hiked the volcano crater and saw Akaka Falls in Hilo which was great (like walking on the moon!) and in Kona did a catamaran tour which was just ok (very few fish to see and no music on the boat). By the time we reached Maui we were desperate to get off the boat to have more time to experience all Hawaii has to offer. We checked into the Grand Wailea for one night and had the *best* two days playing in the pools and the beach at the hotel! We *highly* recommend this hotel to anyone debating between staying on land or doing the cruise! Staying on land allows you to experience the hot Hawaiian nights, not stuck on board an overly air conditioned cruise ship with nothing to do! Maui was by far our favourite island-stunning- and we will defiantly come back to stay at one of their luxury resorts again to see the whole island and have a honeymoon part 2!

Cabin Review

Obstructed Oceanview

Cabin OK

Pros:

Good for the obstructed Oceanview category because window really isn't obstructed (just when you look left- tender boat), nice crew- did a great job of cleaning our room everyday.

Cons:

Very small, two twin beds pushed together, bunks hanging off wall, very cramped and hot bathroom, no headboard to sit up and lean on in bed to read/watch tv, little options on TV, very little room to move/get ready.

Port Reviews

Kauai

Booked Tubing, Na Pali Coast Exploere and Popoi Beach Snorkrlling only to have all three cancelled due to tropical storm Kilo:(

Honolulu

Very crowded and busy but love the North Shore. We booked a cheap hotel on Priceline after disembarkation so we had somewhere to relax, use the pool and shower before our 10pm flight that night.
