I have cruised twice previously, both times with Royal Caribbean, and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. This cruise, however, was ill-fated from the start.
Embarkation was to begin at 3.30pm at a small terminal. An ominous warning. Most people arrived early to find their vessel was in the process of berthing. In the terminal passengers were being processed for another cruise vessel on the opposite side of the pier. Very little seating as RCI passengers waited for their turn to come. Priority processing became a victim as everyone surged forward when the gates, or gate, was opened. After 2 hours on our feet we entered the theatre to line up again for immigration formalities.
The next morning I was expecting an explanation, apology perhaps, on the cruise newsletter for the conditions passengers were forced to endure upon embarkation. Nothing. There seemed to be an official attitude of "pretend it never happened".
Cabin seemed around normal size and set-up as others we have experienced in this category with a couple of exceptions. The double bed was pushed against one of the walls to make room for a chest of drawers on the other side. Unfortunately you couldn't open the drawers wide enough to comfortably place clothes in so it was a waste of space. We could not fit our empty cases under the bed unlike on previous vessels, the beds being about 5 cm too low. We had to put them in the wardrobe which took up hanging space.
