If you like crowds (often rude), mediocre food, poor service, money grubbing, misleading shore excursion descriptions and constant loud, pounding music this is the cruise for you. If you care about quality, polite crew and travel companions, good food and relaxation, don't go on this ship.
Our family of 4 adults and 6 children (ages 7-13) went on the Oasis recently and I agree with the reviewer who said "Never again"! Although all the statistics about the ship say that the passenger capacity is 5400, there were actually 6400 on our cruise. The lower number apparently applies when each room only has 2 guests. It does not take into account that many rooms can accommodate 3-4 guests. That extra 1000 people makes a huge difference. Any reviewer who said that the ship never feels crowded, etc was not on our cruise.
The details- Embarkation was OK. The people handling it were curt and not as polite as I would expect, but fairly efficient. The best advice I can give anyone considering this ship is GET A SUITE. Being "GOLD PASS" guests gave us access to areas not available to 6000 other people, including a lovely restaurant open for breakfast and lunch and, by reservation, dinner. We also did not need reservations for shows. I wish I had known that before I spent hours on the RCCL website making reservations months ahead of time! There is a deck area reserved for Suite guests, but it is nowhere near the pools; so if you are supervising children, it is useless. The noise on the pool deck is deafening. All day long, a very loud and very bad band blasts their music so that no conversation is possible. The music gets in your head and reverberates for hours after you leave the area.
Wonderful, spacious, great bathroom with 2 sinks, separate shower and tub. Huge living area with comfortable furniture. Very large balcony with lounge chairs and dining table.
