We were a group of 20, ranging in age from 75 to 4, gathering to celebrate my 50th birthday and my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. This was mine and my childrens' 3rd Carnival cruise, while most others in the group had at least 5 cruises under their belt. So we are all more or less experienced cruisers, including the kids!
This review is from my own personal perspective. I must note that my parents weren't thrilled with the Carnival experience (even though they had a lot of fun with us family). They usually cruise on Celebrity, and after this cruise, will return permanently to Celebrity! I think it is an age thing. And most of their complaints were legitimate, in my opinion, such as smoke from the smoking area drifting into the Ocean Plaza, where all the trivia tournaments were held, so they really weren't able to participate. And the constant slipperiness of the floor in the buffet area. In fact, I myself took a tumble there one day!
So I'm not sure if I would recommend this cruise to anyone over 60.
Standard balcony cabin. Overlooks deck 5 rather than straight down to the ocean. Some folks didn't like this, but I did! Some noise from the casino late at night, but not too bad.
We caught a taxi, and asked to go to a nice beach. She brought us to Little Bay Beach, and I have to say, it was wonderful!!!! It's a resort, but they let cruise ship passengers hang out there. But the fact that it was a resort made it feel very private and safe. Extremely clean, with crystal clear turquoise water and wonderful swimming. Beautiful facilities. Loved it and would highly recommend.
Loved that you could just walk to the beach here from the ship. Plenty of water sports to try out.
