Just returned from a week away with my wife and two teenage kids aboard the Island Escape, and despite the sometimes bad reviews, can well and truly say that a good time was had by all. We chose this cruise because of the stops at Civitaveccia for Rome and Naples for Pompeii, and these were both great places to visit. Olbia and Calvi were a bit disappointing though.

The highlight for us all was the onboard entertainment and the food, which were both of a good standard. The organised trips were a bit expensive, but were well organised. The ship is a little tired, but the crew worked hard to keep it shipshape. If you have sailed with one of the more upmarket cruise operators, you may be a bit disappointed, but the relaxed atmosphere and dress code was great for families, especially those with children.

Cabin Standard inside

Quite small and looking tired, but well serviced by crew.
