Having only cruised with P and O in the past, we decided to try a different cruise line and were recommended RC. We chose Anthem of the Seas because it is brand new. The check-in procedures were super fast and we were on board and in our cabin in less than 15 mins.
The cabin was very spacious with a huge and very comfortable bed. The balcony was bigger than expected and as we were in the middle of the ship on deck 8, we had fabulous views from the balcony, coming in to and going out of destination ports.
Anthem have what they call "Dynamic dining", where you can eat what you want when you want and have a range of complimentary restaurants and restaurants where you pay up to an extra $40 a head. For us it became a pain having to remember to reserve a table somewhere each evening and you never got to know other people dining around you, whereas previously we had fixed sittings and really got chatting to the others at your table.
Spacious and very well maintained. Plenty wardrobe and drawer space. Very comfortable HUGE bed. Really good to have a proper shower cubicle and the whole shower-room had a proper hotel feel about it with the fixtures and fittings.
Having been here before, we just went ashore to stretch our legs. Admittedly though it has changed a bit since our last visit and the area from port into town has been tidied up considerably.
We took a quick tour on our own. A pretty place.
We were going to make our own way to Nice, but when we saw the bay and how lovely Ville Franche was, we stayed there and had a good old wander around. It was so hot that day so we didn't wander too far. Loved it.
Over the 2 days we wandered around on our own, into shops, cafe's, cathedrals, local parks and so forth. Really enjoyed it here.
In hindsight, we should have taken an excursion, as all we did was wander around the harbour area and the shops. We were not particularly enamoured.
We deliberatley didn't take an excursion as we love Cadiz. We have been twice before and are still finding areas to explore and favourite cafe's to return to.
