Fourth cruise for my family, first with NCL. Our 13-yr old son chose the Getaway for its multiple water slides. We spent the night in Miami the night prior. Stayed at the Miami Hilton Downtown. Good access to the port. The concierge, Guy, gave us great restaurant suggestions and transportation tips. We really were impressed with that area of Miami and thoroughly enjoyed the one night.

Embarkation on NCL was fairly easy and quick. Wish we had gotten to the port earlier as our goal was to try to reserve a cabana in the Vibe Beach Club. We were in group 7 and no cabanas were left by the time we got on the ship. Elevator area is crowded on embarkation and debarkation days, but that is expected.

We had a room on deck nine with a large balcony. For four people, it was a slight bit tight, but worked out well. The key is organization to keep the room under control and easily maneuverable. We did use the balcony several times, so we felt it was worth it. We enjoyed opening the curtains at night while sleeping so we could watch the open skies and see land as we arrived on port days. We also used it to dry wet items at the end of port days.
