Background: This was my 9th cruise overall, 2nd with Celebrity, and 1st to Alaska. I was travelling with a friend, both of us are in our late-20's to mid-30's. We selected this specific cruise due to its value for the itinerary. In fact, it was significantly less expensive than the same itinerary on RCI's Radiance of the Seas! We selected the northbound itinerary with the intent on staying in Vancouver for several days pre-cruise and looking forward to the scenery becoming more spectacular each day... and the cruise lived up to this expectation!

Hotel Information: We stayed at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Vancouver for 3 nights pre-cruise. I cannot stress how much we enjoyed this hotel. The location was fantastic, only about a 6 minute walk to the waterfront, Canada Place, and the Convention Centre. There were many restaurants nearby, and everything was within walking distance. The hotel itself was also great - beautiful room overlooking the water (obstructed by one large neighbouring building), high-tech elevators, friendly staff, etc. I would absolutely stay here again! As a side tip - the hotel is frequently found on Hotwire for significant savings and is listed as a 4.5 star Coal Harbour area hotel.

Travel to Port of Embarkation: Canada Place was an easy 6 minute downhill walk from our hotel, but given all of our luggage, we opted to take a taxi. The cost was about $9 plus tip.

Cabin Review

Ocean View 7

Cabin 07

Room 3140 is one of the newer cabins which was added in the conference center area during the dry-dock in 2012. We absolutely LOVED the room. It was directly across from the aft elevators so just a quick jaunt up to the outdoor promenade area on deck 4, the dining room on deck 4 and 5, and the Oceanview Café on deck 10, and a short walk down the hall to the Guest Services desks. Despite its proximity to the elevator, we never heard a thing. The aft elevators also seemed to be the quickest!

The room still appeared to be brand new and was in fabulous condition. First off, it was very large. There was plenty of floor space to walk around the room. We loved the huge mirrored panels along the wall across from the bed. And most noteworthy was the HUGE window which reached from our knees to the ceiling. We kept our curtains open almost 24/7 and always had beautiful views. There was adequate storage for 2 people (both of us are heavy packers!). The shower was larger than is typical on cruise ships, and the washroom was a decent size.

Overall we LOVED the room, the location, and the window and we would book this cabin or any of the others in this hallway again in a flash!
