My family had taken 3 cruises in the past with MSC because of the kids go free offer. The last one was six years ago. We just got home from our fourth cruise and it will be our last with MSC. There were many things things that were not up to par this time around. First, the ship needs some TLC. Our bathroom shower had mold in many spots in the grout which grossed me out every time I took a shower since the only place there is grout is on the bottom of the shower where of course my feet were and the drain was slow draining so that I stood in the water that was being mixed with the grout mold. The carpeting in a number of parts of the ship was worn. I understand that in order to fix these things they would have to put a ship out of commission for a bit but I think it was bad enough that they will loose repeat business because of it.

Second, the ship was an hour and a half late to Athens which meant that we were not able to do all that we had scheduled on our excursion that day, very annoying. They said over the loud speaker that the delay was due to heavy maritime traffic but I find it hard to believe that they don't know WELL in advance which cruise ships and ferries will be there at the same time they are. I could go online and find out myself. I imagine that each week they are "late" due to traffic. Also, a couple of our stops had tender service. They put the last tender time to the boat so early that it really messed with our schedule those days. For example in Santorini we had to stop our tour at 2:15 and our ship wasn't leaving until 5:30 I believe. It took over an hour just to get the ferry down to the tender which had to be allowed for on top of the early time for the last tender.

Third, I found the staff to be downright rude at times. Everyone in my party of six had this same experience. For example one evening there was a problem with my card not working. It took over an hour to get it resolved and three trips to the front desk. The third person to help me seemed annoyed that I was asking her to try to fix it again since the last person had told me it was resolved but obviously wasn't. It seems to me she should have at least said "I am sorry for the inconvenience let me fix it for you" but there was definitely no apology what so ever.
