To begin with the MS. Westerdam is one of the older ships in the Holland America Line up of ships! It is not equipped with the modern day roll prevention stabilizers that newer ships have so when the waves hit you will feel the roll and rock of the ship however, I found a number of the mosaics within the ship to be quit interesting hinting of yesterdays when you could tell that this was an elegant ship.

We booked on the MS. Westerdam to bring in the new year of 2014 and was quite pleased with the formal dinning requirements although we as a rule prefer to eat more casually! They provided other options to formal dinning and indeed on a couple of occassions we took advantage of them.

On this particular cruise it was just me and my wife because we wanted a hlliday just for us. We also took advantage of touring their private island where we road on the newest craze the segway! Which I by the way mastered in a very short time! It was fun and the cruise was very relaxing even the rocking and rolling of the ship was relaxing in the evening as we slept.

Cabin Review

Neptune Deluxe Verandah Suite

Cabin SB

Overall the cabin was modestand small compared to other cabins which I have had with other cruise lines. It was nicely decorated yet out of fashion and cramped. We had a nice view and it was one of the SB Veranda suites. Overall Iwould have prefered somthing much bigger!

Port Reviews

San Juan

San Juan was ok! It was not as nice as other ports we've traveled, a bit dirty but from an historic perspective it was nice to visit and see this quaint little state.
