Recently was on The Breakaway for a 7 day cruise to Bermuda, with my family of 17!! I had a very good time but felt it could've been a little better. The pool area was kind of small, weirdly set up and always very crowded. You had a Family/Kid pool area that was only 4ft or 5ft then another section that went from 6-7ft. The hot tubs were always filled by the same people. I could never get a lounge chair because people would put their towels out early to hold a chair(s). The only time I got a chair was after a rainstorm, when the sun came back out. The activities on the last sail day was lacking.
The food at Garden Café was just ok. Not the greatest quality or always hot. We had standard reservations at The Manhattan Room every night, but they would never sit all of us together. We always had 2 tables right next to each other but with 12 at 1 table and 5 at another. Just didn't feel like a family dinner. The food portions could've been better but for what you got, was tasty. Never had a problem ordering double appetizers or entrees to make up for the small portions. The last night on the ship, we ate at Cagney's Steakhouse...AWESOME!!
The staff for the most part were very nice. I really LOVED the Cruise Director Julie (yes like the Love Boat!). She was everywhere getting involved with the different activities, including getting on stilts to welcome us back onto the ship the last day in Bermuda. She had great energy. Alvin, Assistant Cruise Director was fun too. Zach and Ricky, who do a lot of the activities were GREAT!! They always seemed to be having fun. Anytime throughout the ship if I saw them, they always said hi and talk with us. The parties in Spice H2O were a lot of fun. Feeling the nice sea breeze while dancing away was very cool. My steward, Nike was very friendly and helpful. My room was always cleaned.
I liked the room a lot and for someone with claustrophia, I did very well. The a/c could've been a little colder. Always very clean and stocked
