Our river cruise started on July 29 in Budapest and ended August 7, 2015, in Prague. We were aboard Uniworld’s Princess for its Delightful Danube and Prague cruise.

Accommodations: A majority of the rooms have the exact same square footage; the big difference is in cost and window sizes: Rooms in the hull of the boat are Category 4 and 5, and these rooms are the cheapest and have the least amount of window (you can almost see the ducks eyeball to eyeball). Category 2 and 3 have non-opening windows, about three-quarter length, and cost more than the Category 4 and 5 rooms, whereas Category 1 cabins have “French” balconies that permit you to slide open the windows but lack any sitting space outside the cabin itself. We originally booked a Category 5 room, but upgraded to Category 2 and were glad that we did because my wife fretted about our being “half under water” in the Category 4 and 5 rooms. If you are used to having a veranda room on the big ships, I would suggest that you book a Category 1 (suite), or Category 2 or 3 stateroom.

No matter what size room you book, you will enjoy the very comfortable beds, the toiletries, and the other amenities. No room service for food or beverages, however, but coffee is close by. The room we had was very clean and the maids did a commendable job.

Tight but good.

Port Reviews

A real bonus on our tour. The town is beautiful and quaint, with all of those things you expect to see in "old Europe."
