Our 17th cruise but only 4th under Princess umbrella so have a few cruises to judge them by.
Stayed a couple of nights in Narita before taking the bus to Yokohama. We did have a bit of a walk around the terminal to find the Princess representative but the info counter headed us in the right direction so no real problem there and the bus ride down was great and comfortable. Check in was quick and we were allowed into our cabin as soon as we arrived.
Our steward was fantastic and we were looked after well. I even lost a gold and sapphire ring somewhere in our cabin (thought it had gone down the sink) but he found it on the floor and handed it back. He could quite easily have said he couldn't find it and I'd have been none the wiser so a great commendation and tip when his way. Cabin was clean and tidy and no problems with anything in the cabin with plenty of wardrobe space and one of the larger bathrooms we've had. One down side was the balcony which was overlooked by all above us but then we've not ones to sit out there for any length of time as far too much going on else where on the ship. But it was great when we came into ports.
Plenty to choose from in the Horizon Court and Sabatini's Restaurant was worth every penny. We had late dining as any time dining wasn't an option on this cruise and we were put on a table for two. But there were also two other tables of two in our small alcove so we ended up really at a table of 6. Really great people to dine with each evening although the alcove was right beside the stewards' area so they seemed to always be rushing behind our backs and a little annoying as we thought they were trying to push us out quickly. We had only just finished our entrée when the main was put down so meals were over too soon. Food in the restaurant was good but we have had better so a visit to the steak house would be advisable if you want a tender piece of meat.
Entertainment was ok but the singers need a bit more coaching as often not in tune but costumes were great. Same old Park West art auctions that go on and on - maybe these could be cut a bit shorter especially when most people have started to leave as all falling asleep! Horizon Court staff were only too happy to refill coffee, tea and orange in the mornings.
Only down side: Our queuing for passports when entering Korsakov was a shambles and took us almost an hour before we could get off the ship and really should not have happed. We were told it was the Russian Passport people but suspect it may also be a slight problem on Princess' side too. On saying that ALL STAFF on Princess treated us well and because of the we have just book another cruise for November this year.
Well done Princess
Great. Clean, roomy, air con worked well, bathroom better than expected and heaps of wardrobe space. Fantastic Cabin Steward
