Cabin: Balcony Stateroom

Embarkation was busyt but quite organised. The cabin was spacious with excellent sized balcony. Cleanliness within the cabin was off a high standard and the nightly bed turn down and chocolates was a nice touch. as was the complimentary bottle of champagne .

The entertainment was varied and of a good standard. Bingo available for those that enjoy the game and lots of quizzes. However not sure that the later comedy shows were the place for children. Plenty of bars to chose from so something for everyone.

However the big let down was the food and the catering for clients with food allergies. I am gluten free and have cruised before with different cruise lines and have always found the service to be first class with separate menus for those with dietary requirements. We had opted to dine in the Oriental restaurant and was not only disappointed but extremely annoyed to find that I had to order from the main menu 24 hours in advance and if possible they would make a gluten free version. So for first night the only options were melon followed by a plain steak of not brilliant quality. Then following dinner every night I was supposed to order for the next night. I would say that on the occasions that I did dine in the Oriental that the quality of the food was poor for all. It was also difficult to order wine as the waiters were very rushed. I dined in the Sindu one night and the service and food was excellent and staff were very helpful advising on gluten free options. However there is an additional charge of £20 pp. On the final night we dined in the Glass House, again there is a small additional charge. Again main course option was steak and again neither quality nor cooking was great. I had expected better giving that there was a charge.

Port Reviews

Bergen

My favourite stop. did the city hop on/off tour. Lots of activity around the harbour with the fish market and other stalls, bars and cafés. Most fish stall also sold cooked fish lunches and had an excellent meal. Lovely sunny day with short walk back to ship.
