Prior to this cruise we spent a couple of days at Portaventura and then travelled to Barcelona to board the ship. Must say that it is an impressive looking ship but although we enjoyed the cruise, something was lacking from other RCCL cruises we have done.

Embarking was straight forward enough, we were entitled to priority boarding but didnt realise. Our staterooms were ready for us and our luggage was delivered within an hour. We then went to purchase soda passes for our family of 4 adults which came to over $230 with gratuities. We then went to Sorrentos to try the pizza which was OK and went back offboard into Barcelona for a few hours.

On our return to the ship, we went to book the evening show (Mamma Mia) and were advised to book all the shows for the whole week as there would be no availability if we didnt. Then it was time to check the ship out. I found it all quite confusing tbh but the interactive info boards on each deck were helpful. The shows were excellent although I found Blue planet a bit boring. Mamma Mia and Tenors of Rock were fantastic, especially Tenors of Rock.

Port Reviews

Marseille

This was a surprisingly good stop. We hadnt known what to do here but ended up taking a tour on the 'little bus' which was fun. Wanted to go to Chateau D'If but the sea conditions were not good enough to land for us to visit the prison so we decided not to go. Bought icecreams and wandered in the port which was lovely.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Quite a pretty stop with similarities to Barcelona. Took a taxi to Illetas beach and hired a little boat for a few hours for a little fun on the water.
