Just got back from a 4 day cruise (on the Splendor-Grand Suite) from New York to Canada/New England stop. First off, there isn't much to do at St. John's unless you are a Kayak enthusiast. I stayed aboard while my sisters step off the ship and into a big white tented (Market) tourist trap to shop. Reading past reviews I was worried about the cleanliness of the ship and quality of the food, but was so pleasantly surprised by how clean everything was, including the staff doing an excellent joy of keeping the tables on the Lido buffet area cleaned off. My suite stewart was excellent in keeping everything spotless in the room and the bathroom. He was always there with a warm smile to answer any questions we may have had and he always asked if there was anything he could get us.

Embarkation was a little slow for someone who has a grand suite. My sister, who was staying in an inner room purchased FTTF and was checked in before I was (Grand Suite passenger). In the VIP room where I checked in they actually closed the door to the ship before I was checked in and I had to walk around with my luggage which I carried through the regular entrance.

Only problem we had with the room is the phone wasn't working the first two days. I didn't try to call anyone to fix it because we were out of the room more than in the first two days exploring everything. The biggest complaint that I have was my sister's Sign and Sale card which was connected to my account stopped working after a day or so and she was so embarassed when she was denied three different times charges. I went down two different times to have the Quest Services fix it. Still didn't work so the card had to be replaced with a different Folio number. Spent a lot of time getting that rectified, since there was always a line at Quest Services. The other big issue was, on the port day, I decided to stay on board while my sisters went out to shop thinking I was going to stretch out on my balcony to relax and catch up on reading, only to find, when I got back to the suite after having lunch, maintenance had painted the balconies, the balcony furniture was sitting in the middle of the suite and I could not use the balcony, due to no furniture outside and the paint fumes were enough to kill you if you sat there and breathed them it. That was so annoying. I voice a complaint at the Quest Services desk - they had nothing to say about it.
