Just back from a 7 day cruise to Alaska on Solstice with my wife, sister & brother-in-law. Great cruise, the ship is beautiful, well laid out and the crew does an excellent job of maintaining her. We had cabin 1596, Aqua class with a balcony that we used often. I knew the room had limited electrical outlets so I brought a 6-outlet surge protector which was confiscated upon entry to the ship. I will have to be more discreet next time! Our room steward, Frederic was excellent, it seemed the room had been cleaned every time we left the cabin! Although we did not see him often, he stopped in occasionally to make sure there was nothing we needed. We ate each night in Blu where the staff was fabulous! Fernando, Roland, Rolando, Milo, Miguel & Jhoewee served our every need attentively without being intrusive. Food was great with a wide menu variety each day. The Oceanview cafe, where we ate breakfast and lunch had good food and a variety of options each day. The staff there needs a refresher course on how to handle large crowds! There were no definite lines and as a result people simply walked up to the buffet stations bypassing those who were waiting in line. Putting out stanchions with webbed plastic lines with clearly marked entry and exit points would probably solve that problem. The hamburgers at the Mast Grill were delicious eaten out on the deck. On the outside decks, drink servers were plentiful without becoming bothersome. We had the free Classic Beverage Package which worked well everywhere we went on the ship. I was not particularly impressed with the on-board entertainment, but others in my party thought it was good. To each his own! We did excursions in each port, Misty Fiords cruise in Ketchikan; Photo Safari & Whale Watching in Juneau, White Pass Railway in Scagway and a bus tour of Victoria. All were very good with interesting group leaders. Disembarkation was fairly easy, we were about 10 minutes past our scheduled time when we left the ship (after getting our power cord back!) This was a fabulous cruise, I would not hesitate to sail on the Solstice to Alaska again! In fact, we are already thinking about it!

Saw a little of the city post cruise for 1/2 day. Pikes Market was nice; glass exhibition and the Gardens near the Space Needle were very cool.
