Traveled with children

We flew down Friday to Miami two nights early and stayed at the Miami Airport Embassy Suites. It was a really nice hotel. The children loved the large atrium with Koi pond. Every evening there was a managers reception and in the morning a decent sized breakfast buffet. On Saturday we packed in to the rental mini-van and drove down to Key Largo. We had lunch at Alabama Jack's and enjoyed the scenic drive on Card Sound Road. We met up with a few friends that lived in the area that night and drifted off to sleep excited to go on the ship the next day. Sunday morning we had breakfast and then returned the car to the Thrifty rental right by our hotel. We hopped in their free shuttle and were off to the port.

We arrived at the port around 11 am. We got through the first line relatively fast but then sat for a long time waiting in the line to get your key card. Thank goodness for a few handheld games that kept the kids occupied. We didn't get on the ship until noon and the kids were "STARVING" by then. My husband and I grabbed our glass of champagne and headed right to the buffet. The Great Outdoors Cafe is an excellent buffet. The action stations are great. The children also loved how there was a kids buffet with their "comfort food". After eating lunch we changed the kids into their swimsuits and they had fun in the pool. Around three we went to our room to change into dry clothes for the Muster Drill. Our station was Tsars dining room and it went relatively smoothly. We went back to our room to drop off the life vests then back to the outside seats at the Great Outdoors Cafe to watch sail away. Nothing like an ice cream machine to keep the kids happy. We found ourselves sitting in this aft outdoor area a lot as the view were spectacular.

Kids club was open the first night from 8-10:30 for the kids to play in. We signed our four year old daughter into the 2-5 years club. Our three sons went into the 6-9 year area. We have twin 8 year olds and a son who had just turned six the week before. I was worried at first since my daughter would be going in to the one group alone. But the counselors were really friendly and my daughter really took to one of the counselors who called herself "Avalanche". My sons liked all of their counselors a lot to with the exception of one. I think they just didn't understand that counselors sense of humor. But, overall they loved going to camp. In fact a few times they didn't want to leave. We only used the camp sea days and at night for a few hours. The 2-5 year group did cute Dora and Blue's Clues activities . The older boys did a pirate activity and a lot of active games.

We had connecting rooms 8606 & 8610. Nice rooms with good space. Since it was aft we were always walking through the buffet to get to the aft stairwell so that can get to be a pain as your hands are sprayed all the time and if coming from the pool you have to be fully dressed.
