My husband and I are regular cruisers now and wanted to do something more than the Caribbean. We thought the itinerary for this cruise was amazing, especially the two days in St. Petersburg. This port did not disappoint.

As far as the ship goes, it was very clean but rather dated. Definitely showing its age, especially with the deck furniture. The staff was reasonable and friendly. I had the soda package and did not have any trouble getting my drink refilled. Our stateroom (9564) was comfortable and clean. The attendant was conscientious. The food was ok. We did not eat in the dining room past the third night as we did not feel like sitting there. We had my time dining and when we went to the dining room, we were seated right away. We had one meal in the Italian restaurant and the rest in the Windjammer. We did not starve but the food was not outstanding. I felt there was a lack of food choice and options for evening snacking did not exist like they do on other ships. For example; no late night pizza or sandwiches unless you call room service.

There was very little entertainment worth mentioning. We did see a musical act by some guy that came third on the X Factor. He sang for maybe 40 minutes and that was it. We did not make any effort to see anything else. Many passengers complained about the lack of entertainment. We were ok with this because we were tired each night anyway. If someone had young children or even teenagers I would not recommend this ship as I don't think there are enough activities to keep them entertained and or occupied.

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D2

Our cabin was spacious and clean. The deck furniture is very warn and needs to be replaced.

Port Reviews

Stockholm

We spent two days here enjoying the sunny weather. There is lots to do. We toured the palace, the city centre and took a boat tour to the summer palace.

Helsinki

We walked around the market and went through the shopping area. It was a nice port but nothing too exciting.

Tallinn

This is a very easy port to DIY. It has a great market and the city centre is great to visit. Lots of neat buildings.

Riga

I did not really like this port. First of all, it was a 25 minute bus ride to the city centre. Where the ship docks is in the middle of a very run down industrial area. We visited the market in the old zeplin hangers and wandered through the old city centre. For some reason I did not really feel safe here. I am glad I was not on my own.
