We had sailed with Carnival, RCL and Disney before so we thought it was time for a more mature cruise with better itinerary. Having said that, I agree with some other reviewers that there was a definitely Carnival feel to this ship even though it is very new. TIps: The port of Copenhagen at Oceankej was difficult to get to from the city. There is metro to Norreport and bus 25 (only cruise days) to ships terminal. Taxi costs about 75 dollars from airport or the metro/bus will take 36 kroner per person and 45 mts. EXCELLENT: The embarkation and disembarkation has been the best ever! Only 10 minutes - I kid you not. We were at the terminal at 11:45 and eating lunch at noon. The bags were in our room at 1. Same thing while leaving. I have heard of lines and seating prior to boarding, not that for us.The front desk once on the ship was very good. There were no long lines and prompt service with educated staff especially helpful when our port of Warnemunde changed to Kiel due to weather conditions. Alfredo's pizza was a find - customized pizza with personal service for free! also the international cafe where you can get sandwiches or desserts for free especially when returning from long port day at odd times. Burgers, hot dogs and tacos (in horizon bistro) were very very good. TV was excellent because there was movies on demand - my kids loved it and stayed in room if they could! They also added movie everyday, newer movies and good variety. Rhapsody was a band playing in the piazza was very good - we hung out there just to hear them. Do not miss the Russian folklore show on St petersburg night. GOOD: The food was good but the menu (in the main dining room) items were almost identical to carnival dream that we sailed 6 months ago, so we were surprised a little. There were some tweaks here and there that's all. But Lido had the same foods and we noticed after second day that most people ate upstairs because it was more casual there. The pastry shop was nice, but we thought it was an overkill. They could have just done what other ships do. It made the horizon court and bistro a little dizzying. I was going round and round a little bit. BAD: Bistro food was good and average but the worse was that sometimes guacamole or fish sticks were gone and wouldn't return for 30 minutes. We'd just give up by then. Service is slow in the court area unless you order drinks. It appears that the waiters are being pushed to sell drinks or somehow compensated if they get drink orders. Food items were sometimes undercooked e.g. rice and beans. Sometimes mislabeled e.g. basmati rice was not basmati. it was sticky rice! No bathrobes in cabin. Even carnival does better, come on Princess! WORSE: The ship was rattling anywhere you went. At first we noticed it in the dining area - the forks and knives were shaking, then we noticed it was even in the room. The furniture was rattling as if the shock absorbers were missing in this ship. To confirm our view, we noticed several other passengers talking about it as well. I mean not just a soft rattle but the table was shaking. (In our opinion) For the older folks and Elite members, this may be the reason they sail Princess, but our pet peeve was leaving the port late every port of call. The ship waited for at least 30 minutes extra every port for late people. The worst was in Stockholm, where it waited 1 hour 30 minutes for 11 passengers. This made us mad because we could have stayed longer in Stockholm and didn't because of the ships sail away time of 6 pm. The ports were very good and the itinerary was the reason we picked this cruise, but if carnival sets sail in Europe, I might as well go with carnival. At least they charge less and you know you have to buy everything extra!
