The excellent: The itinerary was very good which is why we picked this cruise. We particularly enjoyed Kotor, Dubrovnik and the sail in to Venice. We renewed our vows on board and this was organized professionally by the wedding coordinator (Loretta) who arranged everything. The Captain was lovely and was happy to show us around the Bridge following the service. The package was great including the lovely flowers, delicious cake and champagne. We received a lovely celebratory photo frame and choice of photo and a pair of crystal champagne flutes. We also have a certificate marking the occasion and copies of the order of service. The photographer was also excellent and took a lot of photos which were compiled into a CD to mark the occasion, not particularly cheap at £325 but nice mementos. Service in the on board bars was excellent and we particularly liked Magnums Bar, especially their Martini of the Day. Generally though bar service was mostly excellent. The Good: We were on Select a Dining in the 8.30 sitting in the Adriatic Restaurant on a table of 8 very nice people. The food was always good, not outstanding but generally tasty. We also tried dinner in Ocean Grill (very good), Cafe Jardin (good) and the new Beach House (disappointing - needs to settle in). At breakfast we mostly ate in the Ligurian restaurant (very good) and also tried Cafe Jardin (not outstanding) and the Plaza buffet (good). We only lunched onboard on a couple of occasions, once in Ligurian (very good) and the buffet (good). We had several afternoon teas in Ligurian which were good after a busy days site seeing. The Casino was quite pleasant and nice for a little flutter, especially since we actually came out on top :) The not so good: Laundry facilities on board were not really adequate for the size of the ship especially since one washing machine on Deck 10 was out of order for the 2 weeks we cruised. In cabin laundry was not good, in fact 2 of my husbands (expensive) shirts were ruined during the laundry processing, one was damaged (shredded in places) and another shrank in the wash despite my providing washing instructions on the form dictating 30 degrees only. Additionally there was no dry cleaning available despite it being an option on the form. I would strongly recommend that you don't use the In cabin laundry service because there is no redress when things go wrong. Wine packages - we pre ordered and prepaid for the Commodores Collection of 12 wines. We were disappointed that the advertised wines were not always available and where one or more were out of stock no replacements of a similar type were available. This was made worse by the wine stewards who did not appear to know much about the wines. Also outside of the main dining rooms the wine collections were hard to order. Should we cruise again we won't pre purchase a package. Sun beds - basically there are not enough especially when inconsiderate passengers reserve 2 for their sole use, one in the sun and one in the shade. Excursions : Although reasonably priced when compared to other cruise lines not all of the excursions that we did provided value for Money. The worst example was a tour to Tarquinia and Beach where we were not provided with any information about the town we were visiting by the tour guide and were simply dumped in a town square and told to be back in an hour.

Good, But Not Perfect

Cabin Review

Inside Twin with Shower
Cabin OB B516
The cabin was in need of some maintenance, examples included drawers that didn't close properly and the socket housing dismantled every time we unplugged our phone charger or kettle. There were a few stains on the carpet and some scrapes on the furnishings but nothing too bad unacceptable considering the age of the ship. On the plus side the cabin was kept very clean by our steward. Storage was adequate for all of our possessions and our cases fitted easily under the bed. The bathroom was small but very functional with reasonable shower pressure and plenty of hot water when needed. The beds were comfortable although when made up as a queen size you did lose the use of the right hand side of the bed behind the wardrobe.
