This is our 17th cruise (15th on RCCL) and first smaller ship in years. Did Quantum in April and had been on Oasis and Allure a couple times each in the past few years. Quantum left a bad taste for RCCL for us but Splendour has made it up to us! In total, we were a party of 23 - from age 8-80 and sailed out of Venice. Immediate family was 2 adults and 11 year old. Boarding in Venice was easy and super fast - about 10:45 they allowed us to get on. Ship is in great shape - cabin 8534 - a new PV cabin which is 220sf and HUGE windows - didn't miss the balcony at all.
Service was EXCELLENT! I have missed the attention that a smaller ship provides. Lots of cocktail staff, pool staff, dining staff was excellent! On sea days got to the pool at 9:15 and MANY chairs in the sun and shade available - never an issue. Excellent entertainment - spent many nights at the Schooner bar with the piano man and Karaoke rounds. Did not catch any shows as we were way too busy elsewhere on the ship. Chops and Izumi in an excellent new location up top and outstanding food and service.
The kids had a great time in Adventure Ocean and usually stayed until 11 until signing themselves out. Typical rock and roll night, Pirates, PJ party. Not a lot of kids on our sailing and club was empty by 11:30 most nights.
FANTASTIC! So much space and storage. 3 HUGE windows to see out. Did not miss the balcony at all. Could have fit 4 beds in the room - even with sofa made up and bed, lots of space.
A wonderful city - 3 days pre cruise not even enough! Easy to get to the port and fast embarkation.
