Sail Date: Jun 2015
Cabin: Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Flew to Seattle the day before the cruise and stayed in Pioneer Square. A few homeless around, but the cafes and restaurants around were open late and accommodating. Our hotel had a more than continental breakfast so we ate their prior to calling an Uber to take us to Pier 91. We arrived with our party of 9 around 11:15 am and were called to board prior to noon. By 12:15 we were in the main dining room for lunch and were surprised there were very few people there. We got back to our rooms with luggage already there, unpacked, participated in drill and went to lido deck for sail away. We had a balcony cabin on the 4th floor which was really nice during Glacier Bay and time in port.

All food was excellent every day. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the food - we found it to be very good in the main dining room, had room service and even on the lido which is not our favorite, but definitely good for lunch or the kids. Pinnacle is always excellent and was free for us due to our booking.

Juneau - was rainy and our dog sledding excursion was cancelled. We sailed the week after the plane crashed in Ketchikan so I'm sure they were being extra cautious, but better to be safe than sorry. Plus we had a huge credit to work with on the rest of the trip.We enjoyed the Roberts Tram excursion instead and loved the view and totem pole carver. We walked all around town and bought a lot of gifts to take home.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean-View Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VE

Our cabin was nice - with lots of storage and a good balcony with chairs, a small table and one chair with foot stool. It was great to have it on Glacier Bay day. When the ship turned to show the Glacier from our side it was amazing and we had no one blocking our pictures. Also being on the 4th floor was convenient when they opened the bow (as it is on the 4th floor) and we could just walk right out to where the front of the ship was going into the bay.

Port Reviews

Glacier Bay

Amazing views, heard whales and saw some birds. People claimed to have seen bears on shore on the way to the Glaciers but you needed really good binoculars. Don't forget those. It's useful and amazing to see things like spotting other ships, bald eagles, etc.

Seattle

Love to be in Seattle anytime. If you are there more than a day look into getting a City Pass. It gets you into a harbor cruise, the aquarium, the space needly 2 times, Experience Music Project and Chihuly Glass and Garden for less than $70 per adult. Kids were $59. We did it all in two days staying downtown and walking or taking the monorail. It's a fabulous city.
