I hate to sound Californian, but the Windsurf energies were just great. The cabin was basic on deck 2 but great crisp sheets and a design that is not cramped. Windsurf was so small (300 passengers) meant that the tenders are frequent and easy. The BVIs were non-traditional ports, and I don't like large crowds. The on-board BBQ was awesome and now 2 years later I can say the experience as a whole was super, although no individual island or cruise person was memorable. The crew was kind. I thought I wrote a review 2 years ago but seeing that none is in my CruiseCritic history I guess better late than never. More recently I took a Celebrity cruise with an upscale "Aqua" cabin with balcony, but the Windstar experience beat it hands down.
Took a nonstop flight from DC and arrived the morning of the cruise - a short taxi ride to the port and easy boarding which I believe was $20 including tip. After the cruise we had a 1/2 day before the flight and rented a car which allowed us a tour of both the French and Dutch sides of St, Martin including a stop at some beach bar whose name I forget - fun and relaxing. And left the day of arrival. We made a full circle - and stopped in a local supermarket. SInce there are only 300 passengers disembarkation is quick.
Another plus of this cruise was we spent about 8 hours under sail - which is aesthetically pleasing, We will be back on Windstar!
Nice, airy, crisp sheets, clean bathroom, enough room. Near the cabin door is a high shelf where I used to put stuff - I left my keys there and I had to call Windstar after returning to the US to get them back - but they sent them! Good job WIndstar!
WE rented a car for a ride around St Barths and a trip to the beaches. Although St Barths has a reputation for the upscale European island - you can have it. No charm, too crowded. When my French Canadian wife asked the wine shop proprietor "ou est le salle de bains?" literally where is the bathroom, the owner made fun of her for not saying where is the "toilette" which is the name that French people call a public bathroom. Typical French snottiness - worse than Paris! Guadeloupe, St Martin and Martinique are much more charming French Caribbean isles.
