NCL Star is not one of the elite classes of cruise ships. It lacks charm and charisma. The Star appears to be out-of-date in some locations throughout the ship. The seats in the Stardust Theatre are in bad shape you feel as you are falling forward no support and no cup holders for your beverages. The entertainment was lacking and disappointing. The Buffet dining room is small capacity compared to the other ships. Menu Choices never included any of NORWAY local cuisine to experience that was a huge disappointment. No deviation from Miami’s headquarters menu even though we were in Norway. Why experience the country if we couldn’t experience the food. The fine dining restaurant called Aqua felt as if it was a converted nightclub to dining hall as it had a stardust ceiling. It took 2.5 hours to eat a meal and it was dark and confining in this restaurant.

Being this was NCL FIRST 14 day Norwegian Cruise there were 12 ports that were visited. Three of those ports lacked local sightseeing, IF you didn’t sign up for any excursion through the cruise line. On top of this these 3 ports in order to get to town you had to purchase bus transportation from pier to town $10 to 15 per person depending on port. Also note in Norway any town visited on Sunday is closed for shopping business that should really be your SEA days and NCL should plan it better.

Ground transportation through NCL from pier to airport was $30pp I believe it could be a little less.

Cabin Review

Family Suite

Cabin SJ

Spacious, but dated. The Mattress was worn and in need of replacement causing back and hip discomfort. The sofa sleeper couch was dilapidated along with the 2 sitting chairs. The Pleated curtains were not hanging correctly as hooks were missing therefore the curtains were sagging allowing light to sneak through. (Maintenance was notified and this was corrected) Rug pulled up on side of sofa and left this way. The outside windows were filthy with bird droppings at start of cruise and fourteen days later we came back with even more disgusting streaky windows after an attempt was made to clean windows unsuccessfully making it worse.

Copenhagen

We arrived a day early before the cruise started , enjoyed Copenhagen on our own! Bicycle capital of Europe and enjoyed using the metro and the transit trains wish we had more of these in the states.
