The ports on this cruise were amazing. Unfortunately, the ship was not. While the food quality was as good as can be expected, the entertainment was poorly scheduled at 7pm & 9 pm making both dinner and seeing the show difficult. There were movies on deck but no blankets or hot chocolate were provided. Amenities such as little bottles of lotion and shampoo are gone. (Even the chocolate on the pillow I never ate!)
Entertainment venues were few as were activities. There were no enrichment activities. Many cruisers were very happy but I think this had more to do with the free beverage package offered when booking than with the activities themselves. Being boringly sober (and taking the cruise credit instead), there was little to do during the day but play trivia or go to the ever-present art auction. Even my "top tier" event for being at the platinum level was only held at 9:15 am - they couldn't care less if I came. The bed was unusually hard and it took 3 days to get an egg crate despite generously tipping the cabin attendant. This is a smaller, older ship that, while clean, is out-dated. The balcony was unusually small with room only for 2 small upright chairs and a small table.
Poorly arranged when beds split. The room was large enough but passage between the bed and dresser was very tight. Balcony very small. Bathroom unusually small. It was impossible to take a shower without water going on the floor due to the shower curtain's sticking to you. Very large closet with many hangers. Poor selection of TV channels and kept showing the same episodes of TV shows in the same language at the same time of night (I began to watch The Mentalist in German, I was so bored). Most English language channels were news, cartoons, or music videos.
Be sure to get some Turkish Lira from you bank before arrival although most places will accept dollars and Euros. Cash is king here.
Great shopping!
Go to the castle but take a taxi. Ship was a long distance away.
Interesting history lesson.
Again, too many crowds in Plaka. Stick to outside views of the Parthenon and go to the museums.
Only things to do were shop and/or swim.
