This was our 3rd cruise with Celebrity and was quite enjoyable despite the rather poor weather during most of the cruise. We were fortunate that the 2 days in St. Petersburg had the best weather and we very much enjoyed our 2 day tour with SBP tours. Having used the Celebrity excursions on previous cruises we decided to go independent this time and were very pleased that we did as SPB turned out to be excellent and better value than the Celebrity excursions.

The service in the Blu restaurant was as good as ever although we did find the menus tended to be somewhat lacking in variety at times. We had a Classic drinks package as part of our deal and found the wines available with this package quite acceptable however we will try the Premium package next time as it does provide a much wider choice.

Although the entertainment was pretty good on the whole the biggest disappointment was the new Cruise Director, a charmless Welshman called Eddy who was nowhere near as good as his predecessor Sue Denning.

Cabin Review

AquaClass 2

Cabin A2

We chose this cabin having had Aqua Class on 2 previous cruises but had not realised that this particular cabin suffers from unbearable noise when there is a late night disco being held in the Sky Lounge 2 decks above. The bass noise from this disco music seems to transmit directly down into 1511 and on 2 occasions during our cruise we were kept awake into the early morning hours. Unfortunately telephone calls to Guest Relations to complain about the noise did not succeed in having it reduced or curtailed. After the second incident we made a complaint in person to Guest Relations and received an apology but we would much rather have had something more positive done to stop it.

Port Reviews

Stockholm

This visit was spoiled by the poor weather as it rained most of the day. We iused the HOHO Bus and Boat to get around. However we did enjoy our visit to the Vasa museum despite the crowds.

Tallinn

It was an easy walk into the town which was charming and interesting but again the poor weather rather spoiled the visit

Berlin

We did not think the 3 hour journey time to Berlin was worth doing so we took a walk into Warnemunde instead. This was a charming little seaside town which would have been even more enjoyable had the weather been better.

Copenhagen

We did our own thing and used the HoHo and local buses which turned out OK. We enjoyed the canal boat tour which was good value
