My husband and I, along with our 13 and 9 year old boys, took our first cruise ever, which was on the Norwegian Breakaway ship. In short, we will never cruise on Norwegian or any cruise line again after this experience.

We were surprised that the quality of food was so poor and the selection, especially for children, was so limited. My husband and I certainly did not have to worry about putting weight on because the food was just terrible. The only dining that was good were the specialty restaurants (La Cucina and Teppanyaki). The complimentary dining at the Uptown Grille was the only restaurant that was decent.

Additionally, we were surprised and disgusted that the bathrooms in the public areas, as well as in our sons' room smelled like a filthy port-a-potty. The pools were very small given the size of the ship and crowds of people. The rock wall had such limited hours and required guests to "share" a helmet without providing sanitary helmet liners - also disgusting - thus, our boys did not participate in that activity. One of the water slides had a weight minimum (90 lbs), thus, our younger son was unable to partake in it.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Raoul, our stateroom steward, was very accommodating and did an excellent job.
