Having cruised on 4 other lines since we last cruised P&O Australia, it was a big step back to the Jewel. Cons Booking anytime dining in MDR is a tedious process that is required nightly for the first 3 nights Quality of food in MDR is a bit hit and miss. No soft serve in buffet (now the pantry after June 15 refit) Burgers, hot dogs and pizzas are $5, $3 and $10 respectively Dress code not enforced in MDR, t-shirts on formal night. Many patrons do not have an 'inside voice' when dining in MDR Drinks are expensive.. Mixed drinks $9-10, Beer $7, cocktails $10 - $15 No drinks packages No bar nibblies, even in the cocktail bar (Mix) Onboard duty free, (jewellery, alcohol, cosmetics, watches) expensive, cheaper in Australia. No forward lounge with a view Adults only section (Oasis) has no pool or hot tubs All coffee shop food @ $4 per item Fee for room service food Tendering process is very slow (3 hours until open acess) The Pantry changes very little and lines are long Pros The ship is very clean Service quality is HAL/Princess Standard Cabin size is adequate MDR dinner selection is good (albeit quality is sporadic) Showroom productions are quite good (3 nightly sessions) Public rooms are cosy

Cabin Review

Cabin 9108
Cabin was a pleasant surprise, only recently recarpeted.
Queen bed left ample space for a dressing table & chair plus 2 tub chairs and a coffee table.
One Australian power point at the dressing table
Substantial hanging space and drawers for 2
Bathroom very cosy, but shower provides plenty of room for two to 'play'
Large window
Cabin is on deck 9, 4th cabin from the bow, port side and located above the Marquee showroom. (interdeck sound-proofing results in minimal sound conductance)
