Over the years we have completed over 60 cruises on different cruise lines. We recently completed our third cruise on Royal Caribbean. We sailed on the Adventure of the Seas out of San Juan Puerto Rico. This was the worst cruise we have ever taken and positively the last on Royal Caribbean. We hadn't sailed on Royal for a few years and decided to given them another try after some disappointing cruises thinking they may have improved.

The ship is old and it looks old. It reminds me of visiting a budget hotel that time forgot. The food at every meal was served cold, dried out and tasteless. The menu was uncreative. The entrees were the size of appetizers. [Example: Four small dumplings; pear and arugula salad or a strip of beef on top of cold salad in a soup bowl were entree.) Desserts had no taste. Giovanni’s, the only specialty restaurant on this ship, with a charge $25pp was no better than the MDR.

The center of the ship is called the Royal Promenade. In the evening this area becomes clogged with entertainment, store tables, café’s, bars and people. It is almost impossible (and hazardous) to use the promenade to get to the other end of the ship. I do have say the crew is very friendly and will go out of their way for guests. But I have never had so many crew members asking to write reference cards for them.

Cabin Review

Royal Suite

Nothing great. As is with the rest of this ship the cabin reminds me of an old budget hotel. The cabin steward was great keeping the room serviced.
