Britannia Cruise Review by larrythelabrador
- Sail Date: June 2015
- Destination: Western Mediterranean
Bathroom fine with good shower & a glass door, plenty of stowage space as well. Found the ship very quiet under way with virtually no vibration or rattles, seemed very stable as well but we didn't have much in the way of bad seas on our cruise. Freedom dining in the Meridian was very good & the food impressed, ate in Sindhu twice & that was superb.
Never had any problems whatsoever with lifts & never had to wait more than a couple of minutes, the lack of a central stairs never caused us a problem either. We did have the special Eric Lanyard afternoon tea & didn't really like it, far too sweet & sickly! Great drinks service in the many bars & entertainment areas with a huge range of real ales in Brodies.
The entertainment was very good & varied, really enjoyed the shows in the theatre & the live Lounge, we went to 12 shows in the main theatre & arrived about 20 minutes before the start, never had any problems getting seats. In general the ship appeared quieter than I had expected with all those people on board, the design obviously works well! It was always easy to find a nice quiet area to sit if you wanted to. The only busy area was around the main pools on the sun deck where as usual people had reserved sunbeds all day with their towels & books! My main gripe about the cruise has to be the number of people moaning about everything, on our first evening meal we sat with a couple who spent the entire time telling us how bad the ship was compared to the others they had been on, we avoided them thereafter but met many others who seemed to spend their entire time picking faults! We thought Britannia was great & yes we are pretty fussy! :)
Nice gym with good facilities that was little used, my wife enjoyed the cookery club & said it was very well equipped & run.

City TourLots to see but very busy & tour held up by people not being able to keep up. You also need to be on constant watch for scams & pickpockets. Market very good but packed, quite a hot hard work day really.View All 254 City Tour Reviews
GenoaFound the place pretty dirty, covered in Grafiti & not to our liking, back on ship by lunchtime!View All 402 Genoa Cruise Port Reviews

St. Michael's CaveStruggled to understand the driver & thought the caves were OK but pretty busy, did see a few apes though. Hated the town, crammed full of people desperate to grab bargain booze, went into Morrisons to find it was exactly the same as those at home, same layout, goods & English cashier!View All 32 St. Michael's Cave Reviews
Monaco (Monte Carlo)Been before so knew our way around, walked some of the F1 track & then up to the old town where we went into the Palace, very good indeed, also visited the princes car collection which we enjoyed as well. Used the hop on hop off bus but found it was always full once we had got off so we walked back down through the gardens to the harbour.View All 492 Monaco (Monte Carlo) Cruise Port Reviews

Glories of the GladiatorsLong day out in very hot conditions with huge crowds, but we had a very good chap as a guide who was very knowledgeable indeed. Fast track past the huge lines into the Colosseum & then on to the Forum, tour would not suit those who have mobility problems, we don't & we were tired at the end. After tour we had 2 hours to do our own thing & visited the Pantheon etc.View All 13,314 Glories of the Gladiators Reviews
